Long-standing local independent bookseller, Carmichael’s Bookstore, recently received some hard-won recognition from a newer literary startup, Literary Hub. Launched in the city’s Highlands neighborhood in 1978, Carmichael’s now operates three stores in Louisville.
I’m a big believer in browsing bookstores when seeking your next great read (Internet message boards and reviews only get you so far). Carmichael’s Bookstore always comes through for me, and I’ve been shopping their stores for almost 30 years.
Better yet, if you’re planning to visit the Frankfort Avenue location, consider swinging by the Caspian Grill virtual next door for a quick informal Persian meal. I recommend the veggie burger, fries and a Coke. It’s a simple combination that, thanks to the veggie burger, need leave you not feeling too guilty.
